In the first quarter of this year, the growth rate of electricity consumption in the whole society accelerated.

On April 17th, data released by the National Energy Administration showed that the total electricity consumption in March was 794.2 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 7.4%.

From the perspective of industrial electricity consumption, the electricity consumption of the primary industry in March was 9.6 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 7%; The electricity consumption of the secondary industry was 542.1 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 4.9%; The electricity consumption of the tertiary industry was 136.5 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 11.6%; The daily electricity consumption of urban and rural residents was 106 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 15.8%.

From January to March, the cumulative electricity consumption of the whole society was 2337.3 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 9.8%, with industrial power generation above designated size reaching 2237.2 billion kilowatt hours.

Among them, the electricity consumption of the primary industry was 28.8 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 9.7%; The electricity consumption of the secondary industry reached 1505.6 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 8%; The electricity consumption of the tertiary industry was 423.5 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 14.3%; The daily electricity consumption of urban and rural residents was 379.4 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 12%.

From January to March last year, the year-on-year growth rate of electricity consumption in the whole society was 3.6%. This means that the year-on-year growth rate of electricity consumption in the whole society accelerated by 6.2 percentage points in the first quarter of this year.

Looking at different industries, the growth rate of electricity consumption in the primary industry remained unchanged year-on-year, while the growth rate of electricity consumption in the secondary industry increased by 3.8 percentage points, the growth rate of electricity consumption in the tertiary industry increased by 10.1 percentage points, and the growth rate of electricity consumption in urban and rural areas increased by 11.8 percentage points.

In the first quarter, industrial production steadily increased, and new quality productivity led the transformation and upgrading, driving the rapid growth of electricity consumption in related industries. According to a person in charge of the China Electricity Council, in the first quarter, the electricity consumption of high-tech and equipment manufacturing industries increased by 14.5% year-on-year. Among them, the electricity consumption of the electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry increased by 29.6% year-on-year. The electricity consumption of consumer goods manufacturing increased by 10.3% year-on-year. The electricity consumption of the four high load energy industries increased by 3.4% year-on-year. In addition, the growth rate of electricity consumption in wholesale and retail, leasing and business services, accommodation and catering industries has exceeded 15%. The rapid development of electric vehicles has driven a year-on-year increase of 70.1% in the electricity consumption of the charging and swapping service industry in the first quarter.

On April 22nd, the National Energy Administration released statistical data on the national power industry from January to March.

As of the end of March, the cumulative installed power generation capacity in China was about 2.99 billion kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 14.5%. Among them, the installed capacity of solar power generation is about 660 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 55%.

From January to March this year, the newly installed capacity of solar power generation in China was 45.74 million kilowatts, or 45.74 GW, an increase of over 35.89% compared to the same period last year (33.66 million kilowatts).

Previously, data showed that from January to February, the country's newly installed solar power generation capacity was 36.72 million kilowatts. According to calculations, the newly installed capacity in March was approximately 9.02 GW.
